Yeadon is a borough in Delaware County bordering Philadelphia. The population was 11,762 at the 2000 census. The Borough took its name from Yeadon Manor, the estate of William Bullock, when it incorporated from Darby Township in 1893. Bullock took the name originally from his home city of Yeadon, West Yorkshire, in England. Proximity to Philadelphia is one of the major attractions of this suburban community, in addition to the varitey of public transportation. Tree-lined streets with elegant older Victorian houses abound in this area. The William Penn School District provides a quality education and is known for its community education programs and public use of school facilities.
